Description
The Peninsula Point Lighthouse was built in 1865. It was used until 1936, when the Minneapolis shoal lighthouse was put into operation, The lighthouse keeper’s quarters burned in 1959, but the brick tower survived and is now listed on the National Register of Historic Places. It's located in the Hiawatha National Forest at the tip of the Stonington Peninsula near Rapid River, MI.
